Meb Keflezighi Inducted Into UCLA Hall of Fame

MEBRAHTOM KEFLEZIGHI -- From 1995-98, Keflezighi became one of the most successful Bruin distance runners in history. During his UCLA career, he was a four-time cross country All-American, a two-time Pac-10 cross country champion, and captured the individual NCAA cross country championship in 1997 -- a UCLA first. In 1997, Keflezighi won NCAA track titles in both the indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters and the outdoor 10,000 meters. He also won Pac-10 titles in the 5,000m (1996, 1997). In addition, Keflezighi holds the UCLA record in both the 10,000m (28:16.79) and the 5,000m (13:26.85). After leaving UCLA, Keflezighi has enjoyed international success at several distances and has helped bring American distance running back into the limelight. He is a three-time USATF 10,000m champion and still holds the U.S. record at that distance with a time of 27:13.98. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, Keflezighi won the silver medal in the marathon, becoming America's first marathon medalist since 1976. In the fall of 2009, he became a national sensation when he became the first American in 27 years to win the New York City Marathon with a time of 2:09.15. He also won the 2009 U.S. Half Mara...

Keflezighi Set to Defend in San Jose on Sunday

Defending Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi will lead a field of more than 13,000 entrants at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon on Sunday.  Now in its fifth year, Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose is recognized as California’s fastest half marathon, and Meb will once again look to use the lightning quick course as a launching pad to victory at the ING New York City Marathon on November 7, the same countdown he utilized so successfully in 2009. “We are thrilled to have Meb defending his title in San Jose this weekend as he prepares for the ING New York Marathon in November,” said Matt Turnbull, Elite Athlete Coordinator for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “Meb is a great competitor, and is truly one of America’s most inspirational athletes. All That Glitters: New York City's Fifth Avenue Mile

by Leslie Higgins            Morgan Uceny                             Sara Hall                       Alistair Cragg         In case the radio hasn't bashed you over the head with this information yet: these streets will make you feel brand new - it's a concrete jungle where dreams are made of. And also, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.   That's right, it's New York City. The best running city in the country, despite common prejudices against pollution and high rents, and in one of the three times each year that the New York Road Runners shuts down at least one major road in Manhattan, many of the world's best milers converge on one of the most expensive streets in the world: Fifth Avenue. This year comes with a larger field than normal on the women's side, with 19 women entered as of this writing, including the winners of four of the last five years returning to try to claim another title...(for more click here) Complete Women's field: Shannon Rowbury, USA / Nike Kil...
