Anna Pierce Is USATF 1500-Meter Champion
Despite the presence of athletes who"d  broken 4:00 in for the distance, the championships finalwas a slow-paced endeavor. Erin Donohue had the lead until Pierce used her now celebrated kick to edge ahead and win, 4:13.65 to 4:13.87, with Shannon Rowbury third in 4:14.41.  "I wanted to (kick) with between 300 and 400 to go, but I was in a terrible position," Pierce explained. Anna Pierce Wins 1,500m fron Erin Donahue

June 27, 2010, 8:32pm

by, Larry Eder

A middle distance race that lived up to the hype! A powerful field, with
Shalane Flanagan, Sarah Bowman, Christin Wurth, Shannon Rowbury,
Erin Donahue and Anna Pierce!

Anna Pierce has the strength of a steeplechaser and the leg speed of a
400 meter runner. She is dangerous anytime she is close to the finish line,
and again, she showed her talent.

While it looked like Shannon Rowbury was ready to fly, it was Anna Pierce doing the flying. Really motoring over the last 200 meters, Pierce fought Donahue, inch for inch, until Anna Pierce's 59.24 last lap finally caught Erin Donahue, and Pierce won, 4;13.65 to Donahue's 4:13.87.Shannon Rowbury was third in 4:14.41, Christin Wurth was fourth in 4:15.33
and Sarah Bowman was fifth in 4:16.50...(for more click here)

Why Earpieces Should Be Legal in Racing by Ryan Hall

June 26, 2010, 5:58pm

So what if they were to allow radio earphones in running much in the same way as they allow them in cycling and NASCAR? I have been thinking some about how we can promote running as more interesting to the general public and I think radio earphones would add a lot to our sport. How cool would it be to be watching a marathon on TV and hear the coach instructing his athlete on where to make a move in a race or what his competitors are doing? I think it would certainly add to the entertainment value of running to give spectators the inside ear on coach-athlete communication in the race....
